Why Choose Hill Country Primary Care

Adult primary care from two clinicians at one office in New Braunfels.

Internal medicine and primary care: what is the difference?

People search for both and land in the same place, so it is worth spelling out. Primary care is the job. It is the practice you see first, the one that holds your whole record and arranges anything else you need. Internal medicine is the training behind it. An internist trains only in adult medicine and in the conditions that stack up as people get older. Family medicine covers every age, starting with newborns.

For an adult, either can be your regular doctor. Hill Country is an internal medicine practice, so we see adults.

Who we see

This is an adult practice. People book with us for a yearly physical, for blood work, because something has come up, or to have a long-term condition followed closer to home. You do not need to have been here before.

What we do not do: pediatrics, dentistry, eye care, orthopedics, neurology, gynecology or heart surgery. If what you need sits outside adult primary care, say so when you call and the front desk will tell you whether a referral makes more sense.

How to become a patient sets out the steps. Our team page lists the two clinicians who see patients here, and our about page covers the practice itself.

Conditions we treat

Much of the work here is long-run care for conditions that need watching over years rather than a single visit. That includes diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid problems and weight.

Abnormal liver enzymes turn up on routine blood work often enough that FibroScan liver assessments are done here in the office. Allergy testing is also available. There is more on our chronic disease management page.

Sick visits, video visits and getting hold of us

If something has just come on, call 830-445-4080 and ask for the soonest appointment. Video visits are available. Which appointment types can be done that way varies, so mention it when you call and the front desk will tell you.

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is a primary care office, not an urgent care. If it might be an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Our contact page lists the after-hours options.

Insurance, Medicare and becoming a patient

To book, call 830-445-4080 or request a time online. Some plans ask for a referral before you see us, or before you see a specialist, and some do not. Call with your card in hand and the front desk will check your own policy before anything is booked.

The plans this practice participates in, Medicare among them, are listed on our Insurance and Fees page. That list is updated from time to time, so check your own policy before your visit rather than after it.

What to bring to a first visit is on the new patient page, and the patient forms can be filled in beforehand.
